Overview

If you own a car, you will need to replace its tires at some point. Even if you drive on well-paved roads or you are a careful driver, your tires will still wear out. Also, if they are more than six years old, you will need to replace them, to ensure safe driving.

And, buying replacement tires can sometimes prove to be a challenging and time-consuming process, especially if you are doing it at a brick-and-mortar store. You will first have to drive your vehicle to the shop. From there, you will spend time evaluating one tire from the next, based on those the shop attendant has recommended.

And, you will have to do this during normal working hours, since some tire shops don’t work round the clock. So, if you have a tight schedule, buying tires using this approach can prove to be quite an inconvenience.

Fortunately, there’s an easier and more convenient means of buying replacement tires. And this is doing it online. With the online method, you simply need to visit the online store, browse through the tires, and then select the tire that you want. From there, the tires will be delivered to your location.

Mavis Tire is one of the online stores where you can buy tires. But, is Mavis a reputable tire seller? Is it a reliable tire seller? Should you buy tires from Mavis? Well, I’ve personally shopped for tires from this platform. And in this guide, I will share all the information that you may be looking for regarding Mavis Tire.About Mavis Tire

Mavis Tire has been operational as a tire company for more than 50 years. It was established in 1972 as Mavis Tire Supply Corporation. However, its roots can be traced back to around the 1950s when it was originally operating as Vic’s Cycle Shop.

Vic’s Cycle Shop was originally repairing bicycles. However, its reputation quickly grew for performing bicycle repairs that appeared impossible. And eventually, Victor transitioned to repairing car tires. And around the 1960s, there would be dozens of cars lined up at the facility, waiting to have their tires repaired or changed.

And in 1968, the owners decided to expand their operations. They opened a 7,000-square-foot tire center, which became a massive success. They then went on to open three more stores by 1971. And in 1972, the company changed its name to Mavis Tire Supply, to give it a more professional look and feel. The name Mavis is derived from the owners’ first two letters, which are Marion and Victor, as well as their last name’s first letter – Sorbaro.

Since then, Mavis has continued growing exponentially. It has made several acquisitions along the way, including Cole Muffler Brake, Kauffman Tire and Somerset Tire. It also recently merged with Express Oil and Tire Engineers, a move that enabled it to keep up with the changing market demands. And in 2021, it acquired Tuffy Tire and Auto Service Centers.

Today, Mavis Tire is one of the largest and most popular independent tire dealers in the U.S. Besides tires, it also sells various other auto-related accessories like shocks, alignments, batteries, suspensions, and struts.

It also offers exhaust work, wheel alignment, tire rotation, TPMS sensor replacement, wiper blades replacement, vehicle inspections, tire repair, and oil changes, just to name a few.

It currently has close to 60 stores, strategically spread across its regional reach. Also, it has a network of over 1,100 service center providers, spread across the United States. It offers tires from more than 20 major tire brands.

How Mavis Tire Works

Mavis Tire is committed to making the tire-buying process as seamless as possible. To buy replacement tires, you simply need to visit its website either on a PC, desktop, tablet or smartphone.

Once you land on its website, Mavis Tire will give you an option of whether to shop for tires by vehicle or by tire size. When I was buying tires from Mavis, I decided to shop for tires by vehicle.

There, I was requested to provide the year, make and model of my vehicle, as well as its trim. I was also required to provide a zip code. After providing these details, Mavis Tire gave me three tire options to consider. These were original equipment standard tires and original equipment optional tires.

I decided to use the original equipment standard. And after clicking the proceed button, Mavis Tire presented me with several tire options, drawn from different brands. I’m a huge fan of Pirelli tires. Consequently, I decided to go with Pirelli Scorpion All Season Plus 3.

After selecting my preferred tire, I was then requested to schedule an installation date, based on my availability. From there, you just need to confirm your reservation and the tire will be shipped to your preferred Mavis store.

You will then take your vehicle for the replacement of tires based on the date you’ve selected. I should, however, point out that Mavis will require you to pay a $25 reservation fee if you decide to schedule an installation at one of Mavis Tire centers.

Mavis also gives you the option of having the tires shipped to your home or office. So, if you don’t want the tires installed at the Mavis Tire Center, you can simply request for them to be shipped to your office or home. Once your order arrives, you can then take the tires to be installed at your preferred tire center.

Mavis Tire Resource Center

Similar to other tire shops, Mavis Tire has a handy resource center, where you can learn about almost everything related to tires. For instance, there are guides on proper tire installation, proper tire care, selecting the right tire size for your vehicle, as well as tire recycling. In short, Mavis tire has got you covered on all fronts on all matters related to tires.

Tire Prices at Mavis Tire

Mavis sells tires at competitive prices. And in most cases, its prices are lower than the majority of its competitors. For instance, when I was purchasing the Pirelli Scorpion All Season Plus 3, I decided to shop around and check the prices at different shops. And, I can confidently say that Mavis Tire’s prices were among the lowest.

In fact, if you check the reviews about this tire seller, you will notice that most of the customers who have left reviews have lauded Mavis Tire for its low tire prices and the seamless buying process.

Mavis Tire also has a price-match guarantee. Under this guarantee, if you happen to come across tires offered at a lower price than what they are going for at Mavis Tire, you simply need to submit that ad to the platform’s Price Buster Squad. Once you submit that ad, Mavis Tires’ Price Buster Squad will proceed to show you matching tires available at the company.

Mavis Tire also has a 30-day price guarantee. So, if you buy a set of tires from Mavis Tire but you happen to come across them offered at a cheaper price elsewhere, then Mavis will refund you the cost difference in addition to 5% of their cost. As a result, you will have saved considerably on tires.

However, we should mention that Mavis Tire will only match or beat the prices offered by a competitor on tires with the same size, model, brand as well as construction. In my case, Mavis will only beat competitor price quotes on the Pirelli Scorpion All Season Plus 3 and not any other Pirelli Scorpion tire.

Mavis Tire Discounts and Offers

As we’ve mentioned above, Mavis Tire offers tires at some of the lowest prices that you can find anywhere on the market. However, it goes a step further to make tires even more affordable, by offering a series of specials and rebates.

Some of the rebates that Mavis Tire offers include a $200 rebate on Goodyear tires, a $100 rebate on General Tire and Cooper tires, an $80 rebate on Firestone tires, a $50 rebate on Dunlop tires, and a $25 rebate on Kelly Tires.

Mavis also offers a series of extremely low-priced tires, designed for those who are tire shoppers on a tight budget. They include Entry Series and the Pro Series tires. Tires from these series cost as low as $50. So, if you are looking for replacement tires but you are on a really tight budget, then Mavis has got you covered with the specials series.

Mavis Tire Returns and Cancellations

Mavis Tire has a 30-day return policy. Under this policy, it will accept the return of any new tires purchased from the company. However, this policy does not apply to special order items. Also, the tires should be new and unused to be eligible for return under this policy.

Once you’ve returned your set of tires, Mavis Tire will issue a refund or exchange the tires with a similar set, based on your preferences. If you opt to get a refund, then Mavis will issue it to the original method of purchase. For example, if you used a credit card to purchase the tires, then the refund will be issued only to that credit card.

However, Mavis Tire will deduct shipping charges incurred from the refund. But, if your order arrived incomplete or damaged, then Mavis will schedule to reship it. You simply need to call the provided number and the company will take it from there. So, if you order a set of tires from Mavis Tire and you notice they have some defects, or they are fewer than you had ordered, then you are eligible for a replacement.

Mavis Tire Warranties

Manufacturer Warranties

Tires sold through Mavis Tire are covered by their specific manufacturer warranties. For instance, if you purchase a set of Goodyear tires from Mavis Tire, they will be covered by Goodyear’s tire warranties and guarantees. However, Goodyear will help you with the warranty claim, in case your tires become unserviceable due to issues covered under the warranties.

Mavis Tire Company Warranties

Besides selling tires from some of the major tire brands, Mavis Tire also has its own series of tires. And, its series of tires are covered by two warranties – these are a new tire limited warranty and a limited mileage warranty, also known as a treadwear warranty.

New Tire Limited Warranty

Mavis Tire offers to replace your tires if they become unserviceable due to defects occasioned by materials or workmanship during their tread life. In this case, Mavis Tire will replace the tire that has become unserviceable with a comparable new one.

But, Mavis tire will do the replacement on a pro-rata basis. This means the company will give you a pro-rated credit, depending on the usable tread depth remaining on the unserviceable tire. This pro-rated credit will then be deducted when you are buying the new tire.

For example, you may purchase a Mavis tire at $100. Unfortunately, this tire may become unserviceable due to workmanship- or materials-related defects when its original tread has only been worn by 40%. This means that the remaining usable tread on the tire is approximately 60%. If you do the calculations, you are eligible for a pro-rated credit of around $60, meaning you will only pay $40 for the new tire.

Treadwear Warranty

Some tires sold at Mavis Tire are also covered by a treadwear warranty. According to this warranty, if you purchase a tire at Mavis Tire but it wears out completely without attaining the warranted mileage, then Mavis Tire will replace it with a similar new one. Again, you will receive pro-rated credit from Mavis Tire, which will be deducted from the tire’s selling price.
