About the Hankook Dynapro ATM

The Hankook Dynapro ATM is an all-terrain tire, engineered for SUVs, vans and light-duty pickups.

It’s designed to help drivers tackle almost all types of terrains and weather conditions. What sets this tire apart from the other all-terrain tires is its smooth and refined on-road driving performance.

When it comes to on-road performance, the majority of all-terrain tires tend to be noisy and rough. But that’s not the case with this tire. It’s quiet, refined and comfortable.

Its overall performance is at par with some of the best all-terrain tires on the market. And the fact that it comes with a lower price tag means you will get great value for your money.

The Hankook Dynapro ATM is available in close to 50 sizes and is compatible with numerous vehicles. If you are looking for a capable, rugged and reasonably-priced all-terrain tire, then the Hankook Dynapro ATM may be the perfect solution.

Design Features and Technologies

Hankook equips its tires with effective and innovative design features, which help to set its tires apart.

And the Hankook Dynapro ATM is no exception. Some of its notable features and technologies include:

Wraparound Tread Design

The wraparound tread design is one of the standout features of this tire. Apart from giving the tire a rugged appearance, this tread design also helps to protect the sidewall from punctures, cuts, abrasions, and impact breaks, among others.

Apart from that, the wraparound tread design also helps to enhance the tire’s traction, thus delivering adequate grip on sand, mud, gravel, snow, and other challenging conditions.

Wide Footprint

According to Hankook, the Dynapro ATM comes with an 8% wider footprint, compared to other all-terrain tires.

This larger footprint gives the tire a larger contact patch with the surface, resulting in optimum grip and traction in a wide range of weather conditions and terrains.

Large Tread Blocks

If you take a closer look at this tire, you will notice that its tread blocks are larger than those found on standard all-terrain tires.

These larger tread blocks are designed to deliver superior traction and grip, especially in off-road conditions.

Zigzag Tread Pattern

Hankook has also equipped the Dynapro ATM with a zig-zag tread pattern, which helps to improve grip as well as enhanced traction in wet and slippery surfaces.

The tread pattern also features stone ejectors, which remove rocks, stones and sticks from the tire, thus preventing stone drilling and other forms of tire damage.

Rim Protector

Hankook has also outfitted this tire with a rim protector, designed to prevent damage to the wheels.

The Dynapro ATM also comes with a rim cushion, which helps to prevent damage to the sidewall, in case the tire loses a considerable amount of pressure.

Performance in Dry Roads

As much as the Dynapro ATM is not an ultra-high performance tire, its performance on dry roads is stellar.

Whether you are traversing through uneven pavement, rough terrain or dry roads in the city, this tire will supply all the traction that you need, to enjoy a safe driving experience.

If your daily driving involves shifting between city roads and rough country roads, then this tire will be an ideal match for your vehicle.

Performance in Wet Conditions

Its performance in wet conditions is not as impressive as you may expect from an all-terrain tire.

As much as Hankook has equipped this tire with a wide range of great features and technologies, its performance in wet roads remains questionable.

Some of the drivers who have used this tire have complained it tends to lose some traction and grip in slippery conditions.

So, you will need to be cautious with your driving and steering whenever you are driving through wet or slippery conditions with the Dynapro ATM.

Performance on Snowy Roads

The Hankook Dynapro ATM is an all-season tire that tends to lean more towards off-roading and dry terrains.

And as you may expect, its performance on ice and snow is equally lackluster. While it may provide some usable traction on light snow, its overall performance in such conditions is not dependable.

Therefore, if you live in an area that experiences long winters, then the Dynapro ATM may not be the ideal tire choice for your vehicle.

For such areas, you should go for a dedicated winter tire or an all-terrain tire with an M+S designation.

On the other hand, if your daily driving entails tackling off-road conditions and dry countryside roads, then this tire will be more than capable.

Hankook Dynapro ATM Off-road Performance

The Dynapro ATM is one of the best all-terrain tires for off-road driving. As mentioned earlier, it has been adequately equipped to handle a wide range of off-road conditions and terrains.

Whether you are driving through sand, mud, grass or rocky areas, this tire doesn’t back down.

Hankook has also reinforced its sidewall and tread gauge significantly, to ensure it can comfortably withstand the harsh elements found in off-road terrains.

Dynapro ATM Ride Quality

As noted earlier, the Dynapro ATM is designed for rough terrains and off-road driving. Therefore, its on-road performance may not be the best in the category.

Having said that, it delivers a comfortable and refined ride, especially when you are driving at slow speeds.

But when you step on the gas pedal and drive at highway speeds, you will experience some road noise as well as some vibrations.

Simply put, as long as you are driving at slow to moderate speeds, then the ride will be comfortable and refined.

Warranties and Guarantees

Hankook is committed to manufacturing tires that provide a safe driving experience and a dependable performance. Also, its tires are designed and built to last long.

To this end, Hankook has backed the Dynapro ATM with several warranties and guarantees, designed to give the buyer peace of mind, knowing that they are getting a high-quality product that will offer value for money.

These warranties and guarantees are offered under the company’s Patron Pledge Plan. They include a standard limited warranty, mileage warranty, road hazard warranty and a 30-day free trial.

Standard Limited Warranty

Hankook offers to replace your Dynapro ATM tire, if it becomes unusable or unserviceable due to a defect related to workmanship or materials.

If the tire becomes unusable within 12 months from the purchase date or during its first 2/32-inch of original usable tread, then Hankook will replace it free of charge, with a comparable new tire.

The free tire replacement will also cover the tire’s mounting and balancing charges while the buyer will be responsible for applicable taxes and other related fees.

If the tire becomes unusable after 12 months from the date of purchase or after its first 2/32-inch of original usable tread, Hankook will replace it on a pro-rated adjustment basis.

In this case, Hankook and the buyer will share the replacement costs. The buyer’s replacement cost will be determined by the amount of original usable tread worn off the tire.

Road Hazard Warranty

Hankook is one of the few tire manufacturers that offer a road hazard warranty. And its coverage extends to the Dynapro ATM.

Under this warranty, Hankook will replace your Dynapro ATM tire if it becomes unserviceable due to a covered or non-repairable road hazard.

For the tire to be replaced under this warranty, it must meet the following conditions and guidelines:

  • The road hazard must be covered
  • The tire shouldn’t be worn by more than 2/32-inch of its original usable tread
  •  The tire should be within its first 12 months from the date of purchase
  • The buyer will be responsible for mounting, balancing, applicable taxes and related service charges

Hankook’s road hazard warranty doesn’t apply to Dynapro ATM tires installed as Original Equipment or OE.

Treadwear Mileage Warranty

Hankook further backs the Dynapro ATM with a treadwear mileage warranty of 50,000 miles.

So, if your Dynapro ATM tire wears out down to its treadwear maintenance indicators before it attains the warranted mileage, then Hankook will replace it.

There is no free replacement under this warranty. Instead, the tire will be replaced on a pro-rated adjustment basis.

Under the pro-rated adjustment basis, Hankook will give you a discount or credit, which will be applied when you purchase a new set of Dynapro ATM tires.

The pro-rated amount you will receive will depend on the percentage of the warranted mileage the tire has not delivered.

For instance, if the tire only delivered 40,000 miles, then the percentage of the non-delivered mileage is 20%.

Assuming the tire is currently going for $150, then the pro-rated amount you will receive towards the replacement is $30 per tire.

You will be required to produce records of the tires’ rotation when you are filing a claim under this warranty.

And if your vehicle has different wheel sizes for the front and rear, then Hankook will only cover half the warranted miles, which is 25,000 miles in this case.

30-Day Free Trial

The Dynapro ATM all-terrain tire also comes with a 30-day free trial. However, the free trial is only available with the P-metric version.

Hankook allows you to test the Dynapro ATM P-metric tire and decide whether it’s the right choice for your vehicle.

And if you are not fully satisfied with this tire, then you are free to return it to the place where you purchased it within 30 days.

Upon returning the tire, the dealer will exchange the Dynapro ATM with a new set of tires. However, the exchange is dependent on the following conditions:

  • You must have purchased a set of 4 to 6 tires
  • You must produce original proof of purchase
  • The buyer is responsible for mounting and balancing charges
  • The tire must be free of any form of damage, mechanical issue, misuse or any racing-related wear
  • The buyer will be responsible for applicable charges

If you opt to exchange the tire with one that is more expensive, then you will be required to pay the difference. And if you opt for a cheaper one, then the dealer will refund you the difference.

Warranty Exclusions

While Hankook offers to replace your tire if it becomes unserviceable due to a manufacturer-related defect or it wears out prematurely, some tires may not be eligible for a replacement.

For instance, if the tire becomes unserviceable or wears out prematurely due to damage caused by a wreck, willful abuse, road hazards, improper application, poor vehicle maintenance, and weather elements, then it will not be eligible to be replaced.

Available Sizes and Compatibility

As mentioned earlier, the Hankook Dynapro ATM is available in approximately 50 different sizes, ranging from 15 inches to 22 inches. Some of the vehicles that it can fit include:

  • Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe and Silverado
  • Dodge Durango, Dakota and Ram
  •  Honda Pilot and Element
  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Nissan Armada and Titan
  • Ford Ranger, F-Series and Explorer
  • GMC Denali, Sierra and Yukon
  • Toyota Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner and Sequoia
  • Jeep Wrangler, Liberty and Grand Cherokee

Hankook Dynapro ATM Price

Prices for the Dynapro ATM are currently ranging between $150 and $300. The actual amount you will spend per tire will depend on your vehicle’s wheel size.

Hankook Dynapro ATM Pros

  • Excellent off-road performance
  • Outstanding warranties and guarantees
  • Sturdy, durable construction

Hankook Dynapro ATM Cons

  • Lackluster on-road performance

Our Take

While this all-terrain tire may deliver a rugged off-road performance, its on-road driving experience is poor.

If you are looking for a reasonably-priced all-terrain tire that will deliver a dependable and capable off-road performance, then the Dynapro ATM will be a decent choice.

On the other hand, if a refined and comfortable on-road performance is something that you prioritize in all-terrain tires, then you should look elsewhere.

Overall, whether to purchase this all-terrain tire or not will depend on the features you are looking for and the surfaces that you frequently drive on.
