Should You Buy the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady?

So, whether you should buy this tire or not will depend on the terrains and conditions that you frequently encounter.

Goodyear Tires Design Features and Technologies

Goodyear is well known for producing top-quality tires. Its tires deliver a great blend of outstanding performance, decent steering responsiveness, great cornering as well as powerful and responsive braking.

Also, its tires deliver a quiet, comfortable and refined ride. And Goodyear has utilized several advanced technologies and design features. They include:

DuPont Kevlar

Tires are prone to premature wear and tear, especially if they are used on harsh terrains.

To prevent such problems, Goodyear has incorporated various advanced technologies into its tires. And DuPont Kevlar is one of them.

The DuPont Kevlar technology works together with Silent Armor technology and the 3D Interlocking System, resulting in enhanced resistance against punctures or any form of instability.

As a result, Goodyear tires are able to deliver outstanding stability, ride safety as well as outstanding durability.

Efficient Grip and SmartTred

Handling response is one of the most important aspects of a tire. If a tire doesn’t provide a decent handling response, the vehicle may lose control, leading to accidents.

To avert such challenges, Goodyear equips most of its tires with several exclusive technologies like EfficientGrip and SmartTred.

Its tires are further outfitted with ActiveBraking and ActiveCornerGrip technologies. All these features and technologies combined to deliver solid handling and superior traction, regardless of the weather condition or road surface.

SoundComfort Technology

Almost all tires from this brand provide quiet, smooth, comfortable and refined rides. So, how does Goodyear manage to achieve this?

Well, Goodyear utilizes its exclusive SoundComfort technology, which works together with the tires’ asymmetric tread designs.

Some Goodyear tires also feature Resonance Noise Attenuated silencer tread grooves, which helps to significantly minimize road noise and block tire vibrations, resulting in a refined and smooth driving experience.

Goodyear Tires Warranties and Guarantees

Goodyear tires are renowned for their top-notch construction, exceptional quality as well as superior materials.

And while its tires may be more expensive than other options on the market, Goodyear stands behind its products with strong warranties and guarantees.

These warranties and guarantees are designed to give the buyer peace of mind, knowing that they are making a good investment.

Goodyear offers both standard tire warranties and company-specific warranties and guarantees. They include:

Highway Auto and Light Truck Tire Replacement Limited Warranty

If you purchase a Goodyear radial light truck tire, highway radial auto tire or a special trailer tire and it becomes unserviceable due to a manufacturer-related defect, then the company offers to replace it with a comparable new one.

A comparable new tire, in this case, refers to a similar Goodyear tire from the same line. And in case a tire from the same line is not currently available, you will be given a chance to choose another Goodyear tire, as long as it features the construction and performance attributes.

And if Goodyear approves the replacement with a higher-priced tire, then you will be responsible for paying the additional charge.

Different Goodyear tires come with different levels of coverage, depending on their type and use.

Highway Radial and Radial Light Truck

All Goodyear radial and radial light truck tires come with a materials and workmanship warranty.

So, if your radial light truck tire, highway radial auto tire, or special trailer tire becomes unserviceable due to a manufacturer-related defect, then Goodyear offers to replace it with a comparable new one.

The replacement can be with a free tire or done on a prorated basis. If the tire becomes unserviceable during its first 2/32-inch of original usable tread wear or within 12 months from the purchase date, then Goodyear will replace it free of charge.

The free replacement will also include mounting and balancing, which means you will not pay anything.

Other Highway and Light Truck Tires

Goodyear’s standard limited warranty also extends to other tires apart from radial or special trailer tires.

So, if your tire is not covered in the above category, then it will still be eligible for a replacement, if it becomes unserviceable due to a manufacturer-related defect.

But in this case, tires are only eligible for replacement during their first 1/32-inch of original usable tread wear.

Temporary Spares Warranty

Goodyear's temporary spare tires are also backed by Goodyear’s standard limited warranty.

Under this warranty, if your Goodyear temporary spare tire becomes unserviceable as a result of a manufacturer-related defect, it will be replaced with a comparable new one, during its first 1/32-in of original usable tread wear.

Prorated Adjustment

As noted above, Goodyear replaces tires removed from service either with a comparable new one or on a prorated basis.

If your tire is not eligible to be replaced with a comparable new one, then it will be replaced on a prorated basis.

Coverage under the pro-rated basis extends for up to 6 years from the purchase date or when its tread is worn off down to its tread wear indicators.

Under the prorated adjustment, the buyer and Goodyear will share the replacement charges.

The replacement amount the buyer will pay will depend on the percentage of usable original tread worn off from the tire. This percentage is then multiplied by the dealer’s current selling price.

The buyer will also pay for mounting and balancing fees, applicable federal taxes as well as other related service charges.

Goodyear Treadlife Warranty

Besides the standard limited warranty, Goodyear tires also come with tread life limited warranties.

Coverage extends for up to 6 years from the purchase date or for the warranted mileage, whichever comes first.

So, if your Goodyear tire wears down to its tread wear indicators but it doesn’t reach the warranted mileage, then the tire is eligible for replacement.

But in this case, all replacements are done solely on a prorated adjustment basis, meaning Goodyear and the buyer will share the replacement charges.

The buyer’s replacement amount is obtained by multiplying the mileage percentage the tire has delivered with the dealer’s current selling price.

For instance, the Goodyear Assurance All-Season comes with a 65,000-mile tread-life warranty. If it only delivers 45,500 miles, then it has only delivered 70% of the warranted mileage.

Assuming the dealer is currently selling the tire at $100, the buyer’s replacement amount will be $70 while Goodyear will cover the remaining $30.

The buyer will also be responsible for mounting and balancing fees, as well as applicable taxes and related service fees.

It’s important to note that Goodyear’s tread-life warranty doesn’t apply to all tires. Some of the tires that may not be eligible for this warranty include:

  • Tires sold as original equipment
  • Tires used in commercial service
  • Tires that have been altered in any way after leaving the factory

You will be required to produce proof of purchase when you are submitting a claim for this warranty.

30-Day Goodyear Pledge

Most of the tire’s from the leading tire brands come with a customer satisfaction guarantee. And Goodyear tires are no exception.

Under the 30-day Goodyear Pledge, you are given up to 30 days after purchasing a set of Goodyear tires, to decide whether to keep them or not.

If you opt not to keep them, you can return them to your dealer within 30 days from the purchase date, and you can exchange them for a different set of tires.

Some of the tires eligible for the 30-day Goodyear Pledge include the:

  • Assurance Comfortred series
  • Assurance ComfortDrive
  • Assurance WeatherReady
  • Assurance MaxLife
  • Assurance F1 Asymmetric series
  • Eagle SuperCar Series
  • Eagle Sport All-Season
  • Eagle Exhilarate
  • WinterCommand series
  • Wrangler Fortitude HT series
  • Wrangler AT Adventure
  • Wrangler SilentArmor
  • Wrangler TrailRunner AT series

However, as much as Goodyear offers to replace your tire if you opt not to keep it, the 30-day pledge also comes with some limitations and requirements.

For your tire to be accepted, you should return it undamaged. If the tire is damaged in any way, either by road hazards, misuse, or misapplication, then it will not be replaced.

Also, you must return the tire to the location you purchased it from and produce its original sales receipt.
