Armor-Tek3 Technology

Dry Tarmac Performance

On dry tarmac, the Discoverer STT Pro performed better than we had expected. While it may not deliver the handling and braking that you can get from a summer tire, its overall performance was satisfactory.

When driving at average speeds, the Cooper Discoverer STT Pro remained responsive enough. It responded to our driving inputs well.

Also, it delivered excellent traction and grip on dry tarmac. And unlike other all-terrain tires, the Discoverer STT Pro is not heavy. Therefore, its fuel consumption is almost at par with that of an all-season tire.

Wet Performance

Its performance in wet conditions was equally great. If you happen to encounter wet and slippery conditions with this tire, you will not encounter any loss of traction.

Its grip and traction in wet conditions are more than adequate for your daily driving needs. And thanks to the wide circumferential and lateral grooves, you will not experience any aquaplaning issues.

Overall, the Discoverer STT Pro is a capable performer when it comes to wet and slippery conditions. Whether you are driving on the street, on the highway or in off-road conditions, you can rest assured that this tire will get the job done.

Performance in Snowy Conditions

Considering that the Discoverer STT Pro is designed to handle a wide range of off-road terrains, you can expect it to perform well in snowy conditions. Is that the case? Without a doubt, the Discoverer STT Pro is one of the best off-road tires when it comes to snowy conditions.

During our test ride, this tire delivered adequate traction and grip in snowy conditions. The performance was equally great when the conditions became slushy.

However, we noticed that its performance dropped slightly when we encountered packed snow. And this is something you can expect since it’s not a dedicated winter tire.

So, if you live in an area that experiences heavy snowing for several months, then you should consider replacing the Discoverer STT Pro with a dedicated winter or snow tire.

Ride Quality

If you are used to a smooth, quiet and comfortable ride, then it may take you some time to get used to this tire.

As much as the tire may not be excessively loud compared to other off-road tires on the market, it’s quite noisy. And this is something you can expect from an off-road tire.

Warranties and Guarantees

Cooper stands behind the Discoverer STT Pro with two warranties and guarantees. A workmanship and materials warranty as well as a 45-day road test trial. Let’s take a closer look at what’s covered under each warranty and guarantee.

Workmanship and Materials Warranty

The Discoverer STT Pro comes with a 5-year workmanship and materials warranty. Under this warranty, Cooper offers to replace your tire with a comparable new one, if it becomes unusable due to workmanship or materials defects.

If your tire becomes unserviceable during the first 2/32-inch of its original tread, Cooper will replace it with a comparable new one, free of charge.

And if the tire is worn more than 2/32-inch of its original tread, the manufacturer will replace it with a comparable new one on a prorated basis. Hence, you will contribute a certain percentage of its replacement costs.

An authorized Cooper tire dealer will determine the amount you will pay by multiplying the percentage of the original tread worn off the tire with its current selling price.

Also, you will be responsible for its mounting and balancing fees, as well as applicable taxes and miscellaneous charges.

45-Day Road Test
