About the Continental PureContact LS

Premium vehicles are engineered to be exceptionally comfortable and quiet on the road. Also, they come with powerful engines, designed to deliver the fastest speeds possible. However, if you own such a vehicle, you will only enjoy these benefits, if your vehicle is equipped with the right set of tires. And that tire is none other than the Continental PureContact LS.

The Continental PureContact LS is an all-season grand touring tire, designed to deliver a luxurious ride and cozy ride. It’s specifically engineered for drivers of premium vehicles, looking to enjoy maximum benefits.

According to drivers who have used this tire, it can considerably improve your vehicle's ride quality, responsiveness, car handling as well as braking. And besides performing well in dry conditions, this tire is also an excellent performer in wet and slippery conditions.

As you may expect, the Continental PureContact LS may be slightly expensive than some of the other tires in its category. And this is understandable, considering you are getting a premium tire that will considerably improve your vehicle’s performance.

Design Features and Technologies

As highlighted above, the Continental PureContact LS is engineered for drivers looking for a sporty steering feel, responsive handling, year-round traction and a comfortable ride.

It’s designed to combine the reliable dry, wet and light-snowy traction of an all-season tire, with the refined ride of a premium grand touring tire.

To meet these goals, Continental has equipped it with several advanced features and technologies such as:

Temperature Activated Functional Polymers

Continental has outfitted the PureContact LS with temperature-activated functional polymers. These polymers play a vital role in enhancing the tire’s compound bonding, thus minimizing tear and wear while boosting its fuel efficiency.

The tire’s tread compound also features +Sylane additives, which help to enhance traction and grip, especially in slippery conditions.

Asymmetric Tread Pattern

The tire’s advanced tread compound has been formed into an asymmetric tread pattern, featuring sturdy blocks on its shoulders. These stable blocks are designed to deliver enhanced lateral grip, combined with high-speed stability.

Furthermore, the tire’s tread pattern features a wide central rib, which helps to deliver a great on-center feel. This feature will come in handy during highway driving.

Circumferential and Lateral Grooves

Continental has further provisioned this tire with wide circumferential grooves and lateral grooves on the tire’s tread. These grooves help to evacuate water away from the tire, thus preventing the risk of hydroplaning.

Siped Shoulders

The Continental PureContact LS also comes with siped shoulders, intermediate tread blocks and traction grooves, which help to deliver enhanced traction in snowy conditions.

Robust Internal Construction

The tire’s interior features a single-ply polyester casing. This design helps to reduce the tire’s overall weight, resulting in top-notch responsiveness, high-speed cornering stability, and brisk acceleration.

Inside the tire are two steel belts, featuring polyamide reinforcement overlays. This robust internal construction is engineered to deliver high-speed driving stability while maximizing durability.

Performance in Different Conditions and Terrains

The Continental PureContact LS is a premium grand-touring all-season tire, built to perform well in almost all conditions. But is that the case? Does it perform according to expectations?

We outfitted a set of this tire on a Cadillac ATS and conducted a series of road tests in different conditions. And we made the following observations:

Dry Performance

When it comes to dry tarmac performance, it’s almost impossible to find a tire that can outperform the PureContact LS.

Without a doubt, it’s one of the best grand-touring tires on dry tarmac for premium vehicles and fast sedans.

During the test ride, this tire delivered top-notch performances in almost all areas. The steering response is one of the best, making your driving experience fun and thrilling.

Also, its traction and grip were exceptional on dry tarmac, while braking distances remained reliably short.

Furthermore, its high-speed traction and stability were simply outstanding. Overall, the PureContact LS remains one of the best performers in this category when it comes to dry tarmac.

Wet Performance

On wet tarmac, the performance is equally sensational, if not better. We evaluated its performance both in slightly and extremely wet conditions. And in both instances, this tire didn’t falter, not even for a second.

Its braking distances are among the shortest in this class. Furthermore, we didn’t experience any hydroplaning issues, even when we drove with it over seriously wet conditions.

And when it comes to damp conditions, we experience the same levels of exceptional grip and traction.

If you live in an area that rains frequently and you own a premium or luxurious car, then this tire will be a perfect match for your vehicle.

Performance in Snowy Conditions

As earlier mentioned, the PureContact LS is a grand-touring all-season tire. And like other all-season tires, you can expect it to deliver some usable traction in snowy conditions. Is that the case?

We didn’t test this tire’s performance in snowy conditions, since we felt there’s no need. But according to customer reviews, this tire will provide you with a reliable level of grip in light snowy conditions. Also, drivers who have used this tire in light snowy conditions claim that the braking distances remain fairly short.

With that said, the Continental PureContact LS is not a winter or snow tire. So, if your area experiences heavy snowing during the winter months, you should replace this tire with proper winter or snow tires.

Off-roading Performance

The Continental PureContact LS is not built for off-road driving. It lacks the design features and technologies needed to handle off-road conditions.

For instance, it lacks durable, sturdy sidewalls that you will find in most of the other off-roading tires.

Therefore, using this tire in extreme off-road conditions may lead to severe damage, thus shortening its lifespan.

While this tire can fit most of the crossovers that can handle off-road driving, it’s simply not designed for such conditions.

Hence, if you are planning to engage in off-road driving with your friends over the weekend, you should replace the PureContact LS with proper off-road or all-terrain tires.

Ride Quality

As mentioned earlier in this article, the Continental PureContact LS is a premium grand-touring tire, mainly designed for luxury vehicles.

And as you may probably know, luxury vehicles are renowned for their comfortable and refined ride. Therefore, they will need a tire that can complement their comfort and refinement. So, does the PureContact LS manage to achieve that?

Well, the PureContact LS is one of the most comfortable tires you can find on the market today. With this tire on your vehicle, you may be tempted to spend the entire day cruising up and down highways, thanks to its outstanding ride quality.

It’s quiet, smooth and comfortable, whether you are rolling on the interstates or driving around the city.

Warranties and Guarantees

The PureContact LS is covered by Continental’s Total Confidence Plan. The Total Confidence Plan is a set of warranties and guarantees, featuring workmanship and materials warranty, mileage warranty, customer satisfaction guarantee and roadside assistance service.

Workmanship and Materials Warranty

Under this warranty, Continental promises to replace your PureContact LS tire, if it becomes unserviceable due to workmanship or materials defects.

If the tire becomes unserviceable during the first 2/32-inch of its original usable tread or 12 months from the purchase date, Continental will replace it free of charge.

And if it becomes unserviceable outside this replacement window, Continental will replace it on a prorated basis.

Mileage Warranty

The PureContact LS comes with a 70,000 limited mileage warranty. So, if this tire is worn down to its treadwear indicators before attaining the warranted mileage, Continental will replace it for you.

However, all replacements under this warranty will be done on a pro-rated basis, meaning you will contribute a certain percentage of the replacement costs.

Continental PureContact LS Pros

  • Exceptional dry and wet traction
  • Excellent steering response and handling
  • Outstandingly comfortable and quiet
  • Durable construction

Continental PureContact LS Cons
