About the Bridgestone Turanza ER33

Grand-touring all-season tires are among the most popular tire choices for most drivers. They deliver a great blend of performance, comfort, durability and value for money.

And the Bridgestone Turanza ER33 is one of such tires. It’s designed to deliver reliable summer performance, responsive handling as well as a smooth and comfortable ride, for people who drive luxury sedans and sports coupes.

This grand-touring all-season tire is normally used as Original Equipment (OE) on several vehicles such as the Toyota Camry, Lexus IS250, Lexus IS350, Lexus LS430, LS460, Infiniti M45 and Infiniti G35, just to name a few.

Design Features and Technologies

Considering its price, the Bridgestone Turanza ER33 may not have all the innovative features that you may find in other Bridgestone high performance tires.

But this doesn’t mean this tire has been underequipped. It still has some great features, designed to enhance its performance in different weather conditions. Some of these features include:

Summer Touring Tread Compound

Bridgestone has equipped this tire with a summer tread compound, featuring a 5-rib symmetric tread design.

This tread design helps to boost the tire’s traction, handling and responsiveness on dry roads.

It also delivers high-directional stability, smooth driving as well as low rolling resistance, among other key benefits.

Wide Circumferential Grooves

Its tread pattern also features 4 wide circumferential grooves. These wide circumferential grooves evacuate water from the tire’s surface.

And this helps to improve the tire’s hydroplaning resistance, especially when you are driving through wet conditions, resulting in enhanced traction.

Also, these grooves provide additional biting edges for this tire, thus improving its cornering traction in wet conditions and loose surfaces.

The four wide circumferential grooves also work together with the lateral grooves to provide improved handling and stability.

Sturdy Internal Construction

Inside the Turanza ER33 are two steel belts, which have been reinforced with nylon. So, what purpose do they serve?

The sturdy construction provides additional strength and stability for the tire, especially when your vehicle is moving at high speeds.

Maintenance Indicators

The Bridgestone Turanza ER33 sports industry-standard maintenance indicators or tread wear indicators.

And these are narrow rubber bars, which have been placed deep inside the tire’s circumferential grooves.

These maintenance indicators make it easier to monitor your tires’ tread depth, to determine when they are due for replacement.

As the Turanza ER33 wears down, these narrow rubber bars will gradually become visible. And once its tread depth reaches 2/32 of an inch, they will flush with the surface completely.

At this point, you should consider replacing your set of Turanza ER33 tires, since it will no longer be safe to drive on them.

Bridgestone Turanza ER33 Dry and Wet Performance

While the Turanza ER33 may not be a premium grand-touring all-season tire, its wet and dry performance is great overall.

It delivers excellent traction and grip on dry and wet roads. It also provides adequate traction for fast acceleration.

Also, its braking distances are short while its cornering grip is at par with most of the other tires in its category.

While you shouldn’t expect to win races with this tire, its level of performance on wet and dry roads is adequate for the daily driver.

Bridgestone Turanza ER33 Performance on Ice and Snow

The Turanza ER33 is mainly a summer performance tire. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect it to perform well in snowy conditions and icy surfaces.

As much as it may deliver some usable traction in these conditions, its overall performance is poor.

You can’t rely on the Turanza ER33 to keep you safe in such conditions or deliver the level of performance you may want.

So, if you expect to be driving in harsh winter conditions, then it will be highly advisable to outfit your vehicle with a set of winter tires or snow tires.

Bridgestone Turanza ER33 Off-road Performance

The Turanza ER33 may fit some jeeps, trucks and other off-road vehicles. But this doesn’t mean you should use it for off-road driving.

While it may provide some grip on loose gravel and dirt roads, it will not provide adequate traction on inclines, muddy conditions and slushy surfaces.

And this means you may get stuck out there in the wilderness if you use this tire for off-roading.

Furthermore, this tire lacks some of the key features required for off-road conditions. Therefore, using it on abrasive surfaces can damage its tread, thus shortening its lifespan significantly.

So, if you are an off-roading enthusiast and you are looking for a tire that can perform well off the beaten path, then the Turanza ER33 is not the ideal choice.

Bridgestone Turanza ER33 Ride Quality

Bridgestone Turanza tires are renowned for their comfortable and smooth ride. And the Turanza ER33 doesn’t disappoint.

It’s designed to deliver a smooth and comfortable driving experience. Whether you are driving on dry roads or wet surfaces, this tire will absorb road noise and surface imperfections, resulting in a refined driving experience.

However, some drivers have complained that it can become quite noisy as the tread wears down.

As the tire wears, the insulating properties and the tread thickness are reduced. And this explains why the Turanza ER33 may become noisy.

Bridgestone Turanza ER33 Speed Ratings

All tires approved for highway use come with speed ratings. Speed ratings indicate the optimal speed a specific tire can safely maintain over time.

Simply put, it indicates the highest speed the tire can manage to handle before it loses its optimal performance.

The Turanza ER33 comes in 3 distinct speed ratings. These are the W-rated, V-rated and Y-rated.

W-rated Turanza ER33 tires can handle speeds of up to 168mph, V-rated Turanza ER33 tires can handle speeds of up to 149 mph while the Y-rated tires can handle speeds of up to 186 mph.

Bridgestone Turanza ER33 Warranties and Guarantees

The Bridgestone Turanza ER33 is designed to be long-lasting. Unfortunately, this may not always be the case.

For instance, your Turanza ER33 tires may become unserviceable, due to issues outside your control.

And once your tires become unserviceable or unusable, you will have to replace them with a new set. As you probably know, replacing tires is not cheap, since you will have to replace the entire set.

Fortunately, Bridgestone backs the Turanza ER33 with strong warranties, to help defray the replacement costs. Some of these warranties include:

Bridgestone Platinum Pact Limited Warranty

Similar to other tires from this manufacturer, the Turanza ER33 is backed by Bridgestone’s Platinum Pact limited warranty.

Under this warranty, Bridgestone will replace your Turanza ER33 tire, if it becomes unusable or unserviceable due to a manufacturer-related defect.

Bridgestone offers either a free tire replacement or a prorated adjustment replacement. The method applied will depend on when the tire becomes unserviceable.

Free Tire Replacement

The free tire replacement for the Turanza ER33 extends for up to 3 years from the purchase date or 4 years from the manufacture date.

You will need to provide proof of purchase at your dealer when seeking a replacement. And if you don’t have the original purchase receipt, then the tire’s date of manufacture will be used.

The replacement will be done entirely free, including mounting and balancing. However, the buyer will be responsible for applicable taxes, disposal fees, valve systems as well as other applicable fees.

Prorated Adjustment Replacement

If your Turanza ER33 tire becomes unserviceable outside the free replacement period, then Bridgestone will replace it using a prorated adjustment.

Under the prorated arrangement, Bridgestone and the buyer will share the replacement costs.

The buyer’s pro-rated charge will depend on the percentage of original usable tread worn off the Turanza ER33. This percentage will be then multiplied by the dealer’s current selling price.

Coverage under the prorated adjustment extends for up to 5 years from the date of purchase or 6 years from the tire’s manufacture date.

For example, your Turanza ER33 may become unserviceable after 4 years from the purchase date.

Assuming the percentage of original usable tread worn off the tire is 70% and the tire is currently going for $200, then the buyer’s prorated charge will be $140.

Bridgestone will cover the balance of $60, which will be applied as a discount or credit when the driver is purchasing a new set of tires.

90-Day Buy and Try Guarantee

Most Bridgestone tires come with a customer satisfaction guarantee, popularly known as the buy and try guarantee. And the Turanza ER33 is no exception.

Under this guarantee, Bridgestone gives you an opportunity to buy and try the Turanza ER33 tire.

If you are not completely satisfied that this tire is the right choice for your vehicle, then you are free to return them to the location where you originally purchased them within 90 days.

Upon returning them, you can either get a full refund or opt to exchange the tires with a different set.

It’s important to note that this guarantee will only apply if you buy a set of 4 Turanza ER33 tires. And if you return less than 4 tires, they will not be accepted.

Furthermore, tires worn more than 2/32 of an inch of tread or tires damaged due to misuse, abuse, misapplication or road hazards will not be accepted.

Also, Turanza ER33 tires sold as Original Equipment (OE) don’t qualify for the 90-day buy and try guarantee. Only replacement tires are eligible.

Warranty Conditions and Exclusions

As much as Bridgestone offers to replace your Turanza ER33 set of tires if they become unserviceable to an issue related to workmanship and materials, you will need to adhere to certain conditions to qualify for this warranty.

First, you must adhere to the tire’s size and speed ratings, based on the vehicle’s specifications.

Second, you should only use the tire on light trucks or passenger vehicles. So, if you use the tire on commercial service vehicles, then the warranty becomes void.

Third, the tire shouldn’t be more than 10 years old from the date of manufacture. Also, the tire should be on the vehicle it was originally installed.

Tires damaged by road hazards, weather-related cracking, and improper use will not be eligible for replacement under this warranty, regardless of when the damage occurs.
