Selecting The Best Tires for Audi RS7

Before we get started, here are some useful tips for selecting the best tires for your Audi RS7:

Determine How You Will Be Driving Your Vehicle

One of the first things you need to know is how much time your car will be sitting in storage over the course of a year. If it’s only a few weeks during hot summer months, then starting with standard performance tires might be just fine until winter comes along again. However, if you live somewhere where your car will be sitting outside in the cold for a whole year, you might want to invest in all-season tires or winter/snow tires.

Find Out How Much You Drive Each Year

The more often you drive your vehicle, the more mileage is going to happen. The more miles your car accumulates over time, the faster the tires will wear out and need replacement.

If you have a daily commute of just a few kilometers but do these five days per week, you’re going to see some serious tire wear after just one year of driving. This means it may be beneficial to purchase the best tires for Audi RS 7 that last longer than 1 year of heavy use – such as high-quality performance tires.

Determine What the Weather is Like Where You Live

It is also important to determine what kind of weather conditions you might experience when driving with the Audi RS7 tires you choose. If it’s mostly dry or wet, then using “performance” tires will be fine in most conditions.

However, if you drive on roads where there is a lot of water covering things like bridges and highways (because that’s where everyone speed tests their car), then choosing all-season or winter/snow tires would provide better grip. If you live in a climate where you need to drive on icy roads, then winter tires are definitely what you would want to have installed on your car.

Consider Purchasing Two Sets of Tires

You should consider buying a set of tires for summer and a different set for winter. This means having the best tires for wet weather conditions installed on your vehicle from April to September, then switching over to “performance” or all-season tires from October until March. This might be more expensive up front, but it will save you money in the long run as you won’t have to keep purchasing new pairs of tires every few months – just two sets per year!

Discuss Your Tire Options with A Professional

Last but not least is talking with an expert about your tire choices. You can visit any tire shop that specializes in or works with Audi and discuss the best options for yourself. They will be able to help guide you through the process of choosing the best tires for Audi RS7, which means you’ll leave feeling confident in your final decision! Just make sure to take note of all the information I’ve outlined above, so you know what questions to ask them when shopping around for tires!

Best All-Season High-Performance Tires for Audi RS7

These tires are built to work at high speeds, last longer, corner faster, and stop shorter than standard all-season or summer tires. Their tread patterns are usually designed to maximize dry traction while also optimizing wet weather handling.

They are not built for extreme cold weather but rather moderate heat. If you live in a warm climate with occasional snow or slush, then they might be perfect for your RS7.

Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS

Bridgestone has a long-standing tradition in the realm of high-performance tires, and the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS carries on that tradition with aplomb. The Potenza RE980AS is a part of Bridgestone’s high-performance Potenza lineup and is the flagship model in the high-performance category.

Tread Design and Compound

The tire features an asymmetric tread design that delivers increased cornering power when you need it most, without sacrificing responsiveness in straight-line driving situations. To keep the weight down, interlocking 3d sipes channel water away from the tire contact to ensure exceptional grip under wet conditions.

Bridgestone has also incorporated their advanced all-season tread compound designed to deliver increased grip in most driving conditions while quickly returning the tire back to its original shape after being subjected to thermal stress.

Ride Quality and Noise

The Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS offers maximum comfort and a smooth ride. The tire’s advanced construction provides stability and control on wet and dry roads. As far as noise goes, this is one of the quietest tires you will find on the market today.

One complaint we have about this tire is that ride quality tends to suffer when riding over bumps on a rough road. This is a common issue with most high-performance tires, especially the ultra-high-performance category, due to their stiff sidewalls and need for maximum tread stiffness.

In terms of dry performance, we found the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS to be responsive while offering great control in both high and lower-speed driving conditions. The asymmetric tread design allows for more linear cornering, minimizing the potential for oversteer.

One area where the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS truly stands out is in wet performance. It offers 20% better wet performance than the RE970AS. With its advanced tread compound and 3d sipe technology, the tire grips any surface with great tenacity, reducing stopping distances substantially while still maintaining control during cornering maneuvers.

Bridgestone claims that the Potenza RE980AS offers 50% better snow traction than its predecessors. We put this claim to the test and were pleasantly surprised.

While it doesn’t offer a true snow tire or winter level performance, it provides respectable grip and control levels during low-speed maneuvers. The asymmetric tread design allows for more linear cornering, which helps to reduce slippage while accelerating on snow-covered road surfaces.

Tread Life

The Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS offers a 50,000 miles tread warranty which is standard for most high-performance tires. In terms of tire life, our experts found the Potenza RE980AS to perform in line with other competitive high-performance tires in its category.

Size Availability

The Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS is available in 15-,16-,17-,18-,19- and 20-inch rim sizes, including popular Audi RS7 sizes such as 275/35R20 and 245/40-R20.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS is competitively priced, usually coming in at the upper end of its category or more. The 275/35R20 tire retails for $280. However, given the amount of dry grip and wet capabilities on offer here, we believe this is an acceptable tradeoff.

What Other Owners Say

Online owner reviews for the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS are positive, with strong ratings in all categories. Owners like the tire’s handling, grip, and wet traction. Some owners also commented on tread life, which was deemed better than expected when compared to other performance tires they’ve used in the past.

What We Say

The Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS is an excellent high-performance tire and one of the best tires we’ve tested in this category. It offers superior cornering, braking, and wet traction over most competing models with virtually no tradeoffs. For those looking for a high-performance tire that delivers on all fronts without requiring frequent rotations, the Potenza RE980AS is one of the best Audi RS7 tires on the market today.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus

I’m sure the first question that popped into your mind was, “what does DWS stand for?” Well, it stands for “Dry Wet Snow.” This name is appropriate since an ultra-high-performance all-season tire is designed to excel in the most extreme conditions. The ‘ExtremeContact DWS 06’ is made specifically for performance sedans and sports cars.

Tread Design and Compound

To tackle any driving condition, this tire features an updated asymmetric tread design and an exclusive high-performance all-season tread compound. The SportPlus Technology used in this tire is exclusive to Continental. It allows the reduction of rolling resistance without compromising wet or dry performance.

Continental claims that the DWS 06 Plus has bigger and better shoulder blocks as well as deeper 3d sipes compared to its predecessor (DWS 06), which improves snow performance. The center rib has been flipped and now offers better handling and steering response.

The sidewalls feature Continental’s Quick View Indicators. This allows both the driver and mechanic to identify abnormal wear or damage to the tires, which can result in more economical tire maintenance.

Ride Quality and Noise

High-performance tires suffer in the ride quality and noise category due to stiffer carcasses. The DWS 06 Plus is no exception. The ride quality is definitely stiffer than the ‘normal’ passenger tires, but if you are looking for a good all-season tire with exceptional performance, it should be expected.

With that being said, we were surprised how well it handled bumps considering its ultra-high-performance status. Although this tire isn’t the quietest, the noise isn’t too noticeable, even at highway speeds.

We tested the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus on our Audi RS7 equipped with the standard factory 21” wheels. We were pleasantly surprised how well this tire performed in all conditions (rain, snow, ice, dry pavement). It is definitely one of the best all-season tires we’ve tested to date.

When it comes to dry grip and traction, most ultra-high-performance all-season tires tend to perform poorly compared to summer tires due to their tread compounds and asymmetric designs. However, with the updated compound and design, Continental managed to make significant improvements in this area as well. The DWS 06 Plus performs in part with most summer tires on the market.

Wet performance is where this tire truly shines. The asymmetric tread design allows for more water evacuation, which improves hydroplaning resistance as well as wet braking and handling. The SportPlus+ Technology allows for a reduction of rolling resistance without compromising wet or dry performance.

We had the chance to test the DWS 06 Plus on winter roads, which included some light snow. We were impressed by its performance, considering it wasn’t specifically designed as a winter tire. Most ultra-high-performance all-season tires fail to perform well in snow due to their lack of tread blocks and sipes. Continental has managed to maintain good performance on wet roads as well as dry, so it makes sense that they would also be able to (somewhat) solve the wintertime conundrum.

Tread Life

Since this tire is designed to excel in all conditions and handle high amounts of horsepower, we were expecting a short tire life. However, Continental claims that the DWS 06 Plus has a treadwear warranty of 50,000-miles.

We have been testing the DWS 06 Plus for a while now, and so far, so good. Although the tire is used on our Audi RS7, which puts down over 500 hp to the wheels, we’ve noticed that the tread depth has only decreased by about 1/32nds compared to a standard all-season touring tire.

Size Availability

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus is available in 16- to 22-inch wheel sizes. This includes Audi RS7 specific sizes such as 275/35ZR20, 245/40ZR20, and 285/30ZR22.

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus carries an MSRP of $243 - $300 per tire, depending on the size. It is on the higher end of the price range for all-season tires, but this is the tire to get if you are looking for performance in all conditions.

What Other Users Say

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus has a rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars on Most users claim that it is a great all-season tire if you want excellent performance in all conditions.

What We Say

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus is an excellent all-season tire for high-performance vehicles. We liked the fact that Continental improved the tread design and rubber compound to be more ‘sporty’ while maintaining great resistance in all weather conditions. This tire does make sacrifices in ride quality, noise levels, and tread life, but what you get in return is excellent handling (dry & wet), grip, and traction.

In comparison to other all-season options out there, these DWS 06 Plus will give you the confidence to drive through whatever weather Mother Nature decides to send your way!

Order your set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus tires today from TireRack.

  • Not recommended for bumpy terrain
  • Poor ice traction

Best High-Performance Summer Tires for Audi RS7

Compared to all-season options, summer tires provide superior grip due to their stickier rubber compound. This is great when accelerating from a stop or cornering but doesn’t work too well on snowy or wet roads where more grip isn’t necessarily better. Another tradeoff is that they will not last as long as all-season or winter tires on the Audi RS7.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is a max-performance summer tire designed to offer a blend of comfort and intoxicating grip in any road condition. Despite being a high-performance summer tire, the Pilot Sport 4S comes with little compromise as it has been engineered to provide an excellent ride quality as well as a comfortable and quiet ride.

The Pilot Sport 4S is based on the same technology as the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. And like its brother, this tire is yet another milestone in summer tire technology. Michelin engineers have made use of state-of-the-art tire building techniques to provide the Pilot Sport 4S with improved traction, handling, and control even at higher speeds.

Tread Design and Compound

Like most contemporary performance tires, the Pilot Sport 4S comes with an asymmetric tread design whereby more rubber is laid down on the tire’s shoulders to provide stability and handling during cornering. The tread pattern itself has been designed to evacuate water quickly from the tire

To ensure that it lives up to its uncompromising performance goals, the tread compound is designed to withstand the roughest treatments, and provide exceptional traction on both wet and dry roads.

The tire shoulders feature a special silica-infused wet compound to ensure immediate water evacuation from the tire’s footprint to provide a solid contact patch. The center of the tread compound is a special high grip dry rubber compound that delivers both wet and dry road performance.

Ride Comfort and Noise Reduction

The engineers at Michelin have done extensive testing on this tire to ensure that it does not compromise ride or noise comfort levels of luxury sedans or family cars. All this was achieved without giving up on performance and safety.

The Pilot Sport 4S can achieve a much lower rolling resistance than its competitors thanks to the use of the latest advances in tire building technology such as Michelin Acoustic Technology; this reduces road vibrations, noise generation, and fuel consumption without compromising handling or control.

Performance and Handling

The Pilot Sport 4S is a max-performance summer tire, and as such, it offers class-leading levels of grip in dry and wet conditions. Handling is very precise even at high speeds due to the presence of innovative technologies like progressive steering response. This increases steering responsiveness in turns while also ensuring increased stability when traveling on highways.

When it comes to wet performance, the Pilot Sport 4S gives a lot of confidence to drivers, as its patented speed technology provides increased stability and better grip on wet roads. While testing this tire, we experienced excellent water expulsion and handling even at high speeds.

Since summer tires aren’t meant to be driven in snowy conditions, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S suffers when exposed to temperatures below 20-degree F. This is because, at low temperatures, the sticky compound stiffens up and thus loses its adhesion to road surfaces.

Tread Life and Warranty

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S boasts quite an impressive tread life for a summer tire. This is chiefly due to the use of a special silica-infused tread compound as well as the tire’s low rolling resistance.

The Pilot Sport 4S comes with an impressive tread warranty of 30,000 miles. While this has been achieved without sacrificing handling and grip, it must be pointed out that your tires will lose all their grip and handling capabilities after crossing this mark.

Size Availability

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S comes in many different sizes to fit various vehicles, including Audi RS7 specific options such as 275/35ZR20, 245/40-ZR20, 275/30ZR21, 245/40ZR21, and 285/30ZR22 for both front and rear axle configurations.

As is the case with most Michelin tires, the Pilot Sport 4S comes at a price. It is not the most expensive tire on the market, but it’s definitely not cheap. If you consider that your tires are an investment, this may be a small price to pay for maximum driving pleasure.

This Michelin Pilot Power 4S retails for $360 to $430, depending on the tire size.

What Other Users Say

Numerous online sources show that the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is a favorite among car enthusiasts of all types. Market reputation for this tire is very positive, with most reviewers pointing out the excellent dry and wet grip of this tire as well as its impressive lifespan.

Many drivers love how quiet the tires are on their cars. They also appreciate the great handling characteristics, especially in wet conditions, which means they don’t have to slow down on highways. Many owners of sporty vehicles such as Audi RS7 also praise the power and speed

Dry performance of this tire has been called “close to flawless” by some critics, while wet conditions have been described as providing good stability and safety even at high speeds.

What We Say

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is one of the best summer max performance tires available today because it provides superior dry performance without compromising wet weather safety.

Handling characteristics are close to perfect, while tread life is excellent for a summer tire, making it ideal for drivers who want to maximize their driving pleasure on highways or during long commutes.

The only areas where the Pilot Sport 4S struggles are in cold weather (below 20-degree F) and snow; however, this is not what this tire was designed for, so we can’t fault it for that.

Nitto NT 555 G2

The Nitto NT 555 G2 is undoubtedly one of the most affordable high-performance summer tires available today. The NT 555 G2 is built on a solid engineering foundation, exhibiting good dry traction with close to no compromises when the weather gets bad. This tire can be used both on highways or during city driving without compromising performance.

Tread Design and Compound

The G2 compound is Nitto’s answer to the modern high-performance summer tire. It offers several enhancements over its predecessor (NT 555).

Twin center ribs are designed to improve straight-line driving, while circumferential grooves allow for water to flow out of the contact patch.

This tire also features large tapered blocks that are designed to reduce road noise without compromising performance. Furthermore, the reinforced shoulder blocks significantly improve handling and traction during cornering.

All in all, Nitto has developed a tire that performs well in both dry and wet conditions with fewer vibrations than typical high-performance tires.

Ride Comfort and Noise Reduction

The 555 G2’s feature a stiffer carcass, which results in a more comfortable ride without compromising high-speed stability. Noise reduction is also improved over its predecessor. Also, the implementation of circumferential grooves aids water to escape from the contact patch, resulting in improved wet traction.

However, the ride quality isn’t as good as the Pilot Sport 4S. You can feel greater levels of vibration, especially when driving at a slow speed (parking lots etc.).

The Nitto NT 555 G2 is a clear winner in terms of dry performance. This tire’s strong suit is its ability to maintain good traction even after extended periods of hard cornering. The tire holds its line well and offers excellent traction mid corner.

Wet performance is where the Nitto NT 555 G2 really excels. The tires can take turns at speeds that seem impossible when driving on other tires in wet conditions. The grooves present in the tread pattern allow for water to evacuate from the contact surface resulting in incredible handling even in heavy rain.

Combined with responsive steering inputs, these tires will make anyone look like a professional behind the wheel, even during heavy storms.

As is the case with all summer tires, The Nitto NT 555 G2 isn’t meant to be driven in cold weather. The tire compound is prone to cracking at temperatures below 40-degree F.

Tread Life and Warranty

Like most high-performance summer tires, Nitto doesn’t offer a tread warranty for the NT 55 G2. But with proper rotation and alignment, this tire should easily last you for a while.

Size Availability

The Nitto NT 555 G2 is available in 17, 18-, 19- and 20-inch wheel sizes, including the Audi RS 7 specific sizes such as 275/35ZR20 and 245/40-ZR20.

At $259.99, the Nitto NT 555 G2 is an incredible value for money.

High-performance summer tires normally retail between $300-$400, making this tire a bargain. Just keep in mind that this tire has no warranty and is not meant to be driven in cold weather conditions below 40° F. Tread life will also drop considerably if summer temperatures are all that you have to drive on.

What Other Users Say

Most users who purchased this tire were looking for a cheap alternative to the more expensive summer tires.

The NT 555 G2 was well received by most consumers due to their great dry and wet performance. The only complaints were related to low tread life, which is typical among high-performance tires.

What We Say

Nitto has managed to create an incredible bargain in the summer tire market. The NT 555 G2 performs remarkably well in dry and wet conditions, offering a very comfortable ride without compromising performance. For around $250, you get a high-performance summer tire for your Audi RS 7 that competes with other tires from much more expensive brands.

Order your set of Nitto NT 555 G2 tires today from SimpleTire.

Best High-Performance Winter Tires for Audi RS 7

High-performance winter tires are meant to be driven in cold weather. If you plan on driving your Audi RS 7 in wintry conditions and want superb traction and handling, you’ll need a set of winter tires like these.

Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4

As the name suggests, The Michelin Alpin PA4 is designed to offer great performance in snow and ice. The tire features an active temperature system that allows control of the elements within the tire’s compound. This ensures that even if you drive through a snowy road, these tires won’t be compromised in terms of wet or dry grip.

Tread Design and Compound

This tire features large slits that allow water to escape from under the footprint (contact patch), resulting in improved traction on wet roads without sacrificing high-speed stability. It also prevents hydroplaning, which can happen when driving at high speeds with regular all-season tires.

The stiff sidewall design of the Alpin PA4 ensures a responsive steering feel and will not fail even in challenging winter conditions. This allows the tire to remain stable while taking corners at high speeds without compromising on comfort or ride quality.

The oil-enriched Helio+ compound allows the Alpin PA4 to maintain traction in the snow without risking a loss in wear.

Ride Comfort and Noise Reduction

Although the Alpin PA4 is a max-performance winter tire, it doesn’t compromise on ride comfort and noise reduction. The addition of a Continuous Intelligent Damping System (CIDS) that constantly monitors road conditions ensures that there is no excessive stiffness or harshness within the tread compound.

This means you can drive for miles without any discomfort to your back or neck, even if your Audi RS 7 runs through thousands of miles of bad roads every day.

The performance of these tires is very impressive, with the Pilot Alpin PA4 offering great dry and wet grip on top of excellent braking times.

The dry performance is exceptional, with the tire behavior being remarkably similar to a summer performance tire. This is amazing, considering that these tires are meant for use in colder weather conditions.

The wet grip offered by these tires is also very impressive, offering excellent braking and cornering stability while driving on wet roads at high speeds.

Snow performance is where these tires excel. The large treads and stiff sidewall design ensure that you’ll never lose grip on the road as long as there is snow beneath your tire’s footprint.

Tread Life and Warranty

The Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 has a 30,000-mile treadwear warranty which is among the best in class. These tires will last significantly more than other performance winter tires.

Size Availability

The Michelin Pilot Aplin PA4 is available in 18-, 19- and 20-inch rim sizes. It is only available in one Audi RS 7 size, 275/35R20.

These tires are relatively more expensive than all-season and summer performance tires. However, considering their performance and quality, they are well worth the price.

The 275/35R20 size of Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 retails for $410.

What Other Users Say

Most users were happy with how well these tires handled in difficult weather conditions such as snow and ice. Some consumers also drove in dry conditions and reported no problems whatsoever.

What We Say

If you plan to drive your Audi RS 7 through snowy roads during winter months, consider investing in a set of Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4’s. They offer great value and performance both on wet and dry roads while providing good ride comfort and low noise at great levels.
