Should You Buy the Fuzion A/T?

If you are looking for a budget-friendly, no-frills all-terrain tire that will get the job done in different conditions and surfaces, then the Fuzion A/T may be an ideal fit.

Warranties and Guarantees

As noted earlier, Fuzion is owned by Bridgestone. And just like other Bridgestone-associated brands like Firestone and Primewell, Fuzion tires also come with warranties.

But considering that Fuzion is a budget tire brand, you may not get all the warranties and guarantees that come with premium tires.

Currently, Fuzion tires only have two warranties: the standard limited warranty and the supplemental mileage warranty.

Standard Limited Warranty

The standard limited warranty is designed to cover your Fuzion replacement tire if it becomes unusable or unserviceable due to manufacturer-related problems.

Under this warranty, Fuzion offers to replace your tire with a free one, if it becomes unusable during its first 50% of tread life.

Free replacement coverage extends for up to 3 years from the date you bought the tire. However, you will be responsible for mounting, balancing, applicable taxes, disposal fees and other associated service charges.

If the tire becomes unusable outside the free replacement period, Fuzion will still replace it, but on a prorated basis.

The pro-rated replacement amount is obtained by multiplying the percentage of tread worn off the tire by the dealer’s current selling price.

For instance, your Fuzion Touring tire may become unusable after 4 years, due to issues within the manufacturer’s control.

Assuming that the percentage of tread worn off the tire is 70% and the tire is currently going for $50, then your replacement fee will be $35 while Fuzion will cover the balance of $15.

However, you should note that you will not receive the $15 from Fuzion in cash. Instead, it will be applied as a form of discount when you purchase a new set of Fuzion tires.

Also, the buyer will be responsible for mounting, balancing, appropriate taxes, disposal fees and other costs that may arise from the replacement process.

Tires worn off more than 2/32 of an inch of the original usable tread don’t qualify for this warranty.

Supplemental Mileage Warranty

As earlier noted, Fuzion tires also qualify for a supplemental mileage warranty. Under this warranty, if an eligible tire wears uniformly across its tread down to its tread wear indicators before attaining the warranted mileage, then you should get a replacement.

But unlike the standard limited warranty, the supplemental mileage warranty doesn’t come with a free replacement period.

Instead, the replacement is done on a prorated basis. Coverage under this warranty extends for up to five years from the purchase date.

The pro-rated replacement amount will be determined by multiplying the percentage of mileage the tire has delivered by the dealer’s current selling price.

For example, the Fuzion Touring tire comes with a mileage warranty of 55,000 miles. Assuming that it wears down to its tread wear indicators after only delivering 44,000 miles, then the mileage it has delivered against the warranted mileage is 80%.

If the tire is currently going for $50, then your prorated replacement amount will be $40 while Fuzion will pay the remaining $10.

The $10 will be applied when you purchase a new set of Fuzion tires, to replace the worn-out ones.

Warranty Exclusions

As noted above, Fuzion offers to replace your tires if they become unserviceable due to a workmanship and materials defect or if they fail to deliver the warranted mileage.

However, some tires may not be eligible to be replaced under the standard limited warranty and the mileage warranty. Some of the possible exclusions include tire damage caused by:

• Road hazards such as punctures, cuts and bruises
• Improper or insufficient maintenance
• Improper tire use or operation
• Improper tire repair
• Degradation or contamination by chemicals

Also, tires altered in any way such as those with filler materials or those with added sealants are not eligible under the above warranties.

Why Buy Fuzion Tires

As much as Fuzion manufactures some of the most pocket-friendly tires you can find on the market, it’s not the only budget tire brand.
