About the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport

If you own a performance vehicle and you live in an area that experiences mild weather all year round, it will be highly advisable to consider performance tires.

While a set of ordinary all-season tires can still do the job, some of them are not optimized for performance. And this is where ultra-high performance (UHP) tires come in.

Also known as maximum performance tires, UHP tires are designed to deliver enhanced speed and agility, to complement the vehicle’s powerful engine.

They are also engineered to provide better handling, fast steering response, as well as solid cornering grip. And the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport falls in this category.

The Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport is an ultra-high performance summer tire, designed for crossovers, SUVs and trucks.

According to Bridgestone, this tire is engineered to deliver all-season traction, combined with top-notch handling and controllability. It’s also built to deliver a comfortable ride off the track.

Design Features and Technologies

When it comes to ultra-high performance tires, consumers want tires that can perform well in all areas. The problem is, most manufacturers tend to focus on one or two areas while neglecting some other important aspects.

But with the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport, you will not experience such issues. It has been equipped with a wide range of key features and technologies, to ensure it can deliver an outstanding summer performance. They include:

Optimized Tread Design

The Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport comes with a silica tread compound, which has been molded into a symmetric design. This optimized tread design helps the tire to deliver outstanding traction in dry conditions.

At the same time, the stiffness around the tire’s closed shoulder blocks help to enhance its cornering capabilities.

Wide Circumferential Grooves

Bridgestone has also outfitted this tire with four wide circumferential grooves. These grooves work together with the high-angle lateral grooves on the tire’s surface to help to evacuate water, thus helping to minimize the risk of hydroplaning.

Also, the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport comes with a full tread depth design, featuring additional sipes throughout its tread, to ensure enhanced grip on roads and surfaces covered by light snow.

Solid Internal Construction

Inside the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport are two sturdy steel belts, which have been reinforced with a spirally wound nylon cap, for increased durability and strength. Also, this sturdy internal construction helps to boost the tire’s ride quality.

Dry Performance

As a summer performance tire, you expect the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport to deliver superior dry performance. So, does it live up to expectations? We decided to test this tire and see how it performs on dry surfaces.

And it didn’t disappoint. On the track, this tire performs almost like a racing tire. It cuts corners with ease, delivers adequate grip for acceleration and its handling is precise and smooth.

From the observations we made, this tire can transform even a basic SUV or truck to feel like a performance vehicle. It’s almost hard to find any fault with this tire when it comes to dry performance.

Wet Performance

Summer performance tires are mainly engineered for dry roads and surfaces. And as you may expect, some of them tend to falter when it comes to wet roads. For instance, the traction they provide may be sub-par or their wet handling may be disappointing.

But with the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport, you are getting a tire that doesn’t compromise on performance when it comes to wet roads. When conducting our tests, we were surprised by how well this tire handles wet conditions.

It delivered top-notch cornering and accelerating grip. And while it may not perform like an all-season tire in wet conditions, its wet handling was better than most of the other UHP tires we’ve tested in this category.

Its outstanding traction and grip in wet conditions can be attributed to the wide circumferential grooves and the angled lateral grooves, which work together to evacuate water from its tread surface. And this helps to minimize the risk of hydroplaning.

Performance in Snow and Ice

One of the areas where this tire will completely disappoint you is winter traction and handling.

It lacks the design and construction features needed to supply traction for acceleration and braking in ice and snow.

But considering the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport is a summer tire, this really shouldn’t be a surprise.

Simply stated, if you own a performance vehicle and you live in an area that experiences heavy snowing for several months, then the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport may not be the right tire for your vehicle.

Instead, you should simply equip your performance vehicle with a proper winter tire, to ensure safe winter driving and handling.

Off-Road Driving

Ultra-high performance summer tires are designed to be used on paved roads. But out of curiosity, we decided to give the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport a run on unpaved roads, to see how it can handle such conditions.

And saying we were impressed is an understatement. With careful driving, this tire can handle some off-road terrains. It handled loose dirt and sand well, which is quite a surprise for a summer performance tire.

But, we wouldn’t recommend this tire for frequent off-road driving. It’s simply not made for such conditions.

Also, it’s not ideal for extreme off-road terrains such as areas with sharp rocks or deep mud. Using it in such areas can lead to severe damage, thus shortening its lifespan significantly. Besides that, you can also void its warranty.

So, if you are planning to be hitting the trail with your performance vehicle frequently, then you should just opt for a well-equipped off-road terrain tire.

Ride Quality

The Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport combines its outstanding grip and handling with a comfortable smooth ride.

Whether you are on a weekend road trip with your friends or you are running errands around the city, you will enjoy a smooth, noiseless ride with this tire.

Warranties and Guarantees

The Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport comes with 3 warranties and guarantees. These are Platinum Pact limited warranty, mileage warranty and a 90-day customer satisfaction guarantee. So, what’s covered and for how long? Let’s take a closer look:

Platinum Pact Limited Warranty

The Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport comes with a materials and workmanship warranty, offered under the Platinum Pact plan.

According to this warranty, Bridgestone offers to replace your Dueler H/P Sport tire, if it becomes unserviceable due to materials or workmanship defects.

If the tire is removed from service during its first 3 years from the date of purchase, Bridgestone will replace it with a comparable new tire free of charge.

Also, the company will pay for the tire’s mounting and balancing costs while the tire owner will pay for applicable taxes, disposal fees, valve stems and other service charges.

And if the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport tire becomes unserviceable after the free replacement period, Bridgestone will replace it on a pro-rated basis.

For the pro-rated arrangement, Bridgestone and the buyer will share the tire’s replacement costs.

The buyer’s replacement charge will be obtained by multiplying the percentage of the original usable tread that has been worn off the tire by the dealer’s current selling price for the tire.

Besides the pro-rated charge, the buyer will also be responsible for the tire’s mounting and balancing, as well as applicable taxes, disposal fees, valve stems and other charges that may be incurred.

Coverage under the Platinum Pact limited warranty runs for 5 years from the tire’s purchase date or 6 years from its manufacture date.

Mileage Warranty

The Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport comes with a 40,000-mile treadwear warranty. This means that it should deliver up to 40,000 miles before it wears out to its tread wear indicators.

So, if it wears out uniformly across its tread down to its tread wear maintenance indicators without attaining the warranted mileage, Bridgestone will replace it.

However, Bridgestone doesn’t offer free replacement for any tire under this warranty, meaning it will be done on a pro-rated basis.

And as for the pro-rated replacement, the buyer will be required to pay some money at the time of the tire’s replacement.

The amount of money the buyer will pay will be obtained by multiplying the percentage of the warranted mileage the Dueler H/P Sport has delivered by the dealer’s current selling price for this tire.

Also, the buyer will be responsible for the tire’s mounting and balancing charges, as well as applicable taxes and other service charges.

Coverage for the Dueler H/P Sport under this warranty runs for 5 years from its purchase date or 6 years from its manufacture date.

90-Day Guarantee

Like most of the other Bridgestone tires, the Dueler H/P Sport is also covered by the brand’s 90-day guarantee.

Under this guarantee, Bridgestone gives you up to 90 days after buying this tire, to decide whether you will keep it or not.

If you are not completely satisfied with its quality, performance or any other aspect, you are free to return it to its original place of purchase within 90 days.

And once you return the tire, the dealer will offer a full refund or a replacement with a comparable tire, depending on what you prefer.

It’s important to mention that this guarantee will only apply if you had purchased a set of 4 or more Dueler H/P Sport tires. Also, you will need to return a set of 4 or 6 tires for this guarantee to apply.
