We mounted a set of these tires on a 2021 Ford Escape and assessed its performance in different conditions. And after days of rigorous testing in different conditions, we made the following observations.

Dry Performance

The Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia performed as we had expected. The traction on dry surfaces was outstanding, the cornering grip was exceptional and the braking distances were among the shortest we’ve recorded in its class.

Also, we didn’t experience any handling-related issues. The grip was also more than adequate even during hard acceleration. Furthermore, the steering response was fast and precise, without any issues of oversteer or understeer.

While the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia may not perform like an ultra-high performance in dry conditions, its overall performance is decent. Overall, we were more than impressed by this tire’s performance on dry roads.  

Wet Performance

After finishing testing its dry performance, we then proceeded to assess this tire’s performance in wet conditions. For this test, we used nearby proving grounds. And, its performance in wet conditions was simply sensational.

During the entire test, we never experienced any loss of traction, even when we were driving in extremely wet conditions. Traction remained exceptionally great while handling was also superb.

Similar to its dry performance, its braking distances even when subjected to extremely wet conditions were short. In fact, we barely noticed any difference between its dry and wet performance.

Furthermore, we never experience any hydroplaning issues. And this can be attributed to its four wide and deep circumferential grooves, which help to get rid of water from its tread, thus minimizing aquaplaning.

Overall, if you happen to encounter rainy conditions or extremely wet roads with this tire, you are assured of a safe ride.

Performance in Snow and Ice

All-season touring tires are not the best performers when it comes to snowy conditions and icy roads. And this is something that you can expect from these tires since they are not engineered to handle such conditions.

Therefore, we opted against testing this tire on snowy roads. But, based on customer reviews that have been posted on various online platforms, drivers who have encountered light snowy conditions while riding on this tire have reported a somewhat reliable performance.

But, when it comes to roads covered with deep layers of snow, this tire tends to struggle. Hence, if you live in one of those areas that experience heavy and prolonged snowing during the winter months, then you should simply outfit your SUV or crossover with dedicated winter tires, to ensure safe driving.

Workmanship and Materials Warranty

An authorized Bridgestone tire dealer will determine the amount you will contribute by multiplying the percentage of the original usable tread, worn off the tire, by its current retail sale price. You will also pay for the tire’s mounting, balancing, applicable taxes, valve stems, disposal fees and other service charges that may apply.

The materials and workmanship warranty covers this tire for five years from its purchase date.

Limited Mileage Warranty

The Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia comes with a 65,000-mile limited mileage warranty. So, if this tire wears out uniformly across its tread without attaining this warranted mileage, Bridgestone promises to replace it with a comparable new one.

However, you should note that there are no free replacements offered under this warranty. Instead, Bridgestone will replace the worn-out tire using a prorated adjustment method. Therefore, you will be required to pay a certain amount at the time of the tire’s replacement.

The amount you will contribute towards the tire’s replacement will depend on the number of warranted mileage the Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia has managed to deliver by the time it wears out to its treadwear indicators.

An authorized Bridgestone tire dealer will determine the amount you will pay by multiplying the percentage of the warranted mileage the tire has delivered by the time it’s worn out completely.

For example, you may have purchased a set of this tire for your vehicle. But after delivering only 50,000 miles, the tire may become worn off completely. At this stage, this tire has only managed to deliver approximately 77% of the warranted mileage.

Assuming the tire is currently going for around $250, then the amount you will contribute towards its replacement will be around $193 or thereof. You will also be responsible for the tire’s mounting and balancing costs, applicable taxes as well as other miscellaneous service charges.

Customer Satisfaction Guarantee

The Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia also comes with a 90-day Bridgestone customer satisfaction guarantee.

Under this guarantee, if you are not fully satisfied with this tire’s performance, you can return it to its original place of purchase within 90 days. Upon returning it, you can request an exchange or a full refund, depending on your preferences.

The dealer will require you to produce original proof of purchase at the time of the tire’s exchange. Also, you should note that this satisfaction guarantee only applies if you purchase a set of four or more tires together. The Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia delivers a great blend of performance and ride quality.
